Students celebrate best-ever results

GCSE results

Ormiston Denes Academy is delighted to share that the academy’s Year 11 students have achieved the highest set of results on record, with outstanding success in both English and mathematics.

The percentage of students who gained a good pass in both subjects increased to 53% – up 20 percentage points on last year. Progress across the curriculum was also strong, with early estimates placing Ormiston Denes above the national average, adding three-quarters of a grade more per student in every subject than last year.

There are so many individual achievements to celebrate, but special mention must go to Taylor Dyer-Jackman and Nabila Haque – between them they gained 19 A* and As (or equivalent), including top grades in English, mathematics, triple sciences and humanities.

Principal, Ben Driver said: “These historic results are due to ongoing support from our parents and sponsor (Ormiston Academies Trust), the high quality and dedication of our staff, and most importantly the relentless hard work of a fantastic cohort of students. Many of them have achieved academic success as well as excellence outside of the curriculum. We are incredibly proud of them all.

“As we look forward to the year ahead, and the sustained success of Ormiston Denes, we wish all of our leavers and their families the very best for their futures which we will follow with interest and anticipation.”

Nick Hudson, Interim CEO of Ormiston Academies Trust, said: “It is our absolute priority to ensure that every student fulfils their potential, no matter what their background, and we are delighted to see these results from Ormiston Denes. The improvement has been fantastic and everyone connected with the Academy – students, staff and parents – deserve great credit for these results.

“They reflect the real commitment and determination to succeed and we look forward to seeing this success continue over the coming year.”
