Inaugural Santa Run hailed a ‘huge success’

Staff at Ormiston Denes Academy thanked students and their families for the “fantastic support” of their first Santa Run competition.

With the inaugural Santa Run held just before Christmas at the academy in Yarmouth Road, funds were raised in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).

By running the inter house cross country competition in conjunction with the charity, it raised the profile of the event.

Head of PE Tom Woodrow said: “I have brought the Santa Run over from my previous school and what a success it has been. Every student in the academy got involved in the event and we have raised a lot of money for a really good cause”.

In total students and staff managed to raise £410 for the charity and hope to hold the same event next year.

Assistant principal Stuart Aldous said: “This is the first time we have supported EACH with a Santa Run, but it has proven to be a huge success creating a real buzz, with every pupil having the opportunity to be physically active whilst supporting a good local cause at Christmas”.
