Head Girl Lauren & Head Boy Hubert             Deputy Head Girl Bryony & Deputy Head Boy Joseph

Hustings took place on Wednesday 30th November 2016 attended by over 100 students.

Six candidates presented their speeches to inform the audience of their potential plans should they be elected as Head Boy and Head Girl. They had to persuade the voters, in a very short amount of time, with their inspiring ideas and demonstrate the type of leadership and community they would like to develop at Ormiston Denes.  All speeches were delivered to a very high standard.

Our panel:

Tina Ellis – ODA Community Governor
Mr T Bown – Vice Principal
Mr P Aves – SCC Partnership Change Manager, Lowestoft Rising
Mr S Halsey – Active Communities Officer, Waveney and Suffolk Coastal District Councils
Mr R Hawkins – former Head Boy/Waveney Youth Council

The Student Leadership Team champions student views within the academy and actively implements student led change and collaborates with community groups such as the Rotarians and Waveney Youth Council. Over the years, previous Student Leadership committees have submitted bids to gain funding for community based projects such as the Primary Project and the Bakery Project; each requiring someone to lead, organise and develop further. On top of this, the last team was successful in receiving funding to begin a Blooming Marvellous Project and the academy look forward to seeing what wonderful outcomes they make over the coming year.

Watch this space for exciting updates of what the new Student leadership Team have planned for the coming year.
